FAQ

We’ve compiled a few of the more common queries we receive below. If you still have questions please drop me a line on the Contact page.

No.

Many people find this work deeply therapeutic, but it is not psychotherapy or counselling.
I do not diagnose, pathologize, or treat mental illness. I do not work with acute mental health crises. This is coaching and nervous system-based embodiment work focused on present-day patterns, capacity, and skill-building.

My work is trauma-informed, and I have extensive training in working with the nervous system. However, this work is not designed to replace therapy.
If you’re unsure whether this is the right kind of support for you, you’re welcome to book a clarity call and we can explore that together.

Not at all.

Some people like to understand a framework before they begin. Others prefer to learn through experience. Both approaches are welcome here.

There are many schools and perspectives within somatics and embodiment, and no single “correct” definition. What matters most is how the work lands in your own body and life. It is more experiential than educational.

In simple terms:
Embodiment is the outcome.
Somatics is the pathway.

Embodiment is about living with more awareness, choice, and presence in and with your body. Somatic practices are how we develop that capacity.

Both centre the body as a primary source of information, regulation, and change.

All sessions and programs are non-refundable.

I require 24 hours’ notice to reschedule.

Late cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for rescheduling or refund.
This protects the container and honours both of our time.

This work is especially well-suited for men who are capable, thoughtful, and functioning well on the outside — but feel strained, disconnected, or exhausted on the inside.
Many of my clients are leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and fathers who:

  • Carry a lot of responsibility
  • Feel pressure to “hold it together”
  • Live mostly in their heads
  • Experience chronic stress or burnout
  • Want more emotional range and steadiness
  • Sense there must be a better way to live and lead

They’ve often tried mindset work, productivity tools, or personal development programs that were helpful in the short term but didn’t reach the root.

They are ready to stop figuring out solutions and start building real capacity from the inside out.

This work is not appropriate for

  • People in acute mental health crisis
  • Those seeking clinical treatment for mental illness
  • Anyone looking for quick fixes or purely intellectual coaching

If you need medical, psychiatric, or intensive therapeutic support, I encourage you to work with a licensed healthcare provider alongside or instead of this work.

I bring together formal education, clinical training, and long-term somatic study.

Every client is different, and the work is always responsive to what’s alive in you. That said, most people move through a similar developmental arc.

1. Orientation

We establish safety, clarity, and awareness.

We explore:

  • Your current stress patterns
  • How your nervous system responds to pressure
  • Your relationship to your body and emotions
  • What’s working and what isn’t

This creates a strong foundation.

2. Shapes

We look at how your body organizes itself in life.

This includes:

  • How you hold tension
  • How you respond to conflict
  • How you access rest and pleasure
  • How you relate and set boundaries

You begin developing practical embodied skills.

3. Constellations

We explore the systems you are part of.

This includes:

  • Family patterns
  • Work culture
  • Power dynamics
  • Belonging and loyalty
  • Social conditioning

You learn how these systems live in your body and influence your choices, beliefs and stories.

4. Scar Tissue

We work with past adaptations.

These are intelligent strategies your body developed to survive.

We don’t dwell on stories or relive trauma. Instead, we:

  • Build capacity
  • Increase choice
  • Gently update old patterns
  • Restore flexibility

This is done slowly and respectfully.

5. Integration

We bring everything into daily life.

You learn how to:

  • Regulate in real time
  • Navigate difficult conversations
  • Stay present under pressure
  • Make decisions with clarity
  • Sustain new patterns

Integration is where change becomes reliable.

Depending on your goals, sessions may include:

  • Nervous system regulation
  • Emotional literacy
  • Stress and burnout recovery
  • Leadership under pressure
  • Boundary setting
  • Relational skills
  • Embodied confidence
  • Habit change
  • Trauma integration
  • Values-based decision making

All work is practical, grounded, and tailored to you.

Sessions are structured, focused, and responsive.

Most sessions include a combination of:

  • Brief check-in about what’s present for you
  • Tracking your nervous system in real time
  • Guided attention to physical sensations
  • Simple embodied practices
  • Practical reflection and integration

We work at a pace that supports regulation, not overwhelm.

There is no performance requirement. You don’t need to “do it right.” Your job is simply to notice what’s happening in your body and respond honestly.

Over time, this builds self-awareness, stability, and choice.

No.

You are never required to share anything you don’t want to.
Some clients naturally talk about their history. Others prefer to stay focused on present-day patterns and skills. Both approaches are respected.

We work primarily with what is happening in your body now. When past experiences are explored, we track the real time story in your body in this moment. This is approached gently and only with your consent.

You remain in control of the depth and direction of the work.

Sometimes, in specific contexts, yes — and only with clear consent.

If you are working with me in person and touch-based somatic work is appropriate, it is always discussed in advance. You can say no at any time, for any reason.

Hands-on work, when used, is slow, professional, and focused on proprioception, nervous system regulation and body awareness — not massage in the traditional sense. The client is fully clothed and it is not a “treatment” in the traditional sense.

Many clients work with me entirely online and never engage in physical touch. Both formats are effective.

You will be invited to practice simple, realistic skills between sessions.

These are designed to fit into real life — not add more pressure.
This may include:

  • Brief regulation practices
  • Awareness exercises
  • Noticing patterns in daily situations
  • Small behavioural experiments

Consistency matters more than perfection.

This work is most effective when you engage with it between sessions. However, you have choice in this and it is optional.

Progress shows up in practical ways.

Most clients notice changes such as:

  • Recovering from stress more quickly
  • Feeling less reactive
  • Sleeping better
  • Thinking more clearly under pressure
  • Communicating more directly
  • Feeling more grounded in their body
  • Having more emotional range
  • Something new or different happening under pressure

We regularly reflect on what’s shifting and adjust the work as needed.

This is not about “feeling good all the time.” It’s about feeling more, building resilience, flexibility, and self-trust.

That’s completely welcome.

Many clients begin this work feeling doubtful, analytical, or cautious. You do not need to “believe” in anything for it to be effective.

We work with direct experience, not theory.

You are encouraged to evaluate the work based on what you actually notice in your body and life — not on promises or concepts. The invitation is to get curious about it and what’s happening for you.

Sometimes, yes — especially at first.

This is not a typical conversation-based coaching session.

You may be invited to:

  • Pause
  • Sit in silence
  • Close your eyes
  • Notice physical sensations
  • Lean back
  • Stand or walk
  • Orient to your environment
  • Stay with an experience longer than feels “normal”

If you are used to filling space with talking or solving things mentally, this can feel uncomfortable at first.

That discomfort is part of the work.

Over time, most clients come to value the quiet, depth, and clarity that emerge from this approach.

Kith and kin refers to all the people you’re connected to. Typically, kith are people you know but are not related to and kin are all your blood relatives. Maybe we can even extend this to include all life you’re connected to.

Right now we are very divided and consumed by identity politics.

The name kith and kin can help you remember: you’re not alone. You’re here to connect and to feel part of multiple communities. Doing your own personal growth work is crucial…and what if we did this work to live and love better? What if it could lead to better connection to the people and the world around you?

Welcome!
